If you have recently watched TLC Extreme Couponing episode, you may be very excited about the possibilities of saving enormous amounts of money every time you go grocery shopping, or even health and beauty shopping at your local drugstore.
Indeed, in these challenging times, TLC has made a great move bringing TLC Extreme Couponing Show to the masses, and showing them that sky is the limit when it comes to saving money on your every day items.
While you may think that the TLC extreme couponers folks featured in the Extreme Couponing on TLC show are a bit extreme themselves, and while that may be true, you will still have learned a great deal about the system of couponing, and how the preparation, organization, and the right tools as described in the section on smart style coupons, can make a big difference in your savings. You will learn the Extreme Couponing how to, which is useful.
We recommend a two-step approach to take advantage of the TLC Extreme Couponing ideas. First, start with a well-developed system, such as described in this ebook on Extreme Couponing, and second is to follow up and continue to collect the best sources of coupons both online and offline.
Let's discuss both steps of the successful Extreme Couponing here.
Step 1: Buying a well-developed system as a foundation
Watching TLC series is a great way to get yourself excited, but excitement without skills and right information is going to be fruitless for you, and will lead you to frustration. You will miss the coupon deadlines, you will see people empty the shelves with discounted products right before your eyes, and you will be disappointed.
So to start you on the right foot, we recommend several different sources of education that is readily available. This is not the type of dry education you get in school that will hopefully make you money one day. Instead, this education will make you money as soon as you absorb it and put it in action, which can be as soon as tomorrow!
These are the sources of Extreme Couponing information that we recommend, based on great, well organized content, and excellent buyer savings testimonials.
- Smart Couponing, a book based on the 2 years of experience of a mom of four on slashing down her cost on brand name food products, and more.
- TLC Extreme Couponing book, showing an amazing video of an extreme couponing checkout process...
- Extreme Grocery Coupons, an extremely inexpensive book to cut your grocery expenses in half!
Once you have your system down pat, and are following it on a consistent basis, it is time to expand by always staying on the lookout for deals, free printable coupons, paid printable coupons, manufacturer coupons, even coupon clipping service on your favorite sites. Bookmark these sites and create a schedule for checking back with them periodically to spot new deals. Also, create your wish list and focus on finding coupons that will save you money on your wish list items.
Step 2: Following the blogs, sites, facebook, twitter, and local newspapers for deals and new coupons
There is an amazing number of YouTube videos, Facebook pages, Twitter accounts, as well as blogs and websites that bring to you the latest and the greatest of the coupons. An important consideration is to limit your exposure to such sites to prevent burnout, information overload, and subsequently, analysis-paralysis.
Here is a trick I use to quickly scan over my favorite websites and RSS feeds. I use a Firefox internet browser and bookmark my favorite extreme couponing sites into a single directory under Bookmarks Toolbar. Under View/Toolbars, I enable the Menu bar, and my bookmarks toolbar directories show up there.
Then, I usually open a new Firefox window, and then click on my Extreme Couponing directory, and then select "Open All in Tabs", which opens all of the websites, facebook pages, twitter, and blogs I follow in individual tabs. When I am done extracting coupons from these sites, I just close the window and go on with my work.
Here is the list of sites I like to follow every day to get fresh ideas for coupons:
Twitter:
Facebook:
Coupon Search Engine:
Once you have set up your office space, and have bookmarked a list of sites you want to follow for new coupons, I recommend purchasing a fast, preferably laser printer. A black and white printer should suffice for printing coupons; If you can afford a color laser, that is better as it will help you find coupons stored in your purse faster.
A great selection of laser printers can be found on Amazon:
The printer will become your best friend soon; you will probably want to keep it on standby at all times for quick printout of a coupon.
You are all set with your initial training, and ongoing coupon discovery. You are a new extreme couponing expert in the making!
But price is not everything. When buying food items, it is important that you set high standards for quality of foods you purchase. We talk about that in the next section on healthy extreme coupons.
